Katelin Holms (I&E Coordinator, Polk County Land & Water Resources) obtained a press release from Tim Cambell, (AIS Communications Specialist, UW – Extension) on a New Zealand mudsnail investigation in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa:
“In short, the results are what we had hoped – there is no genetic evidence of NZMS in the streams we sampled outside of Black Earth Creek. While this is great news, this doesn’t necessarily mean that NZMS might not be in other parts of the state. However, this is good evidence to suggest they are at least not in the popular stream sites we sampled.”
